The time Future’s bodyguard was knocked out in Ibiza: “Some sucker shit”
Fame comes with its benefits, but it’s not all good. Sometimes the attention placed upon celebrities can be entirely unwanted, as Future learned in Ibiza to his horror in 2019.
Future had literally just arrived on the Spanish island when the trouble started. The Atlanta rapper hadn’t even made it through the airport, when a group of about ten people approached him for a photo. He’d just gotten off a plane, and he was in no mood.
Future told the group, “Not today, guys,” which doesn’t at all seem unreasonable in the circumstances. Nobody wants to hang around an airport after a long flight, but these people apparently reacted very badly. They wanted their photo.
According to a report in TMZ, the group became absolutely furious. They allegedly started throwing insults at Future, including racist insults. The scene had become extremely nasty.
Future had a bodyguard with him, and clearly this was his time to intervene. The guard stepped into the messy situation to try and get the rapper safely out of the airport to his waiting car, but the group didn’t relent.
Things took a really bad turn for the worse next, with witnesses cited in the report claiming that the bodyguard managed to beat back several of the group. But he was badly outnumbered, so he eventually lost control.
The final blow came when someone hit him over the head from behind, allegedly with a rock. The hit, understandably, knocked the guard clean out.
TMZ reported this story at the time, and later Future seemed to confirm many aspects of it as fact. Posting on social media, Future explained that “these fake goons” had requested a picture with him, and, when he said no, they got angry and did “some sucker shit.”
Future wanted to keep his distance from the situation, insisting in his post that he wasn’t “a witness to anything” and imploring people to leave him out of anything “to do with this incident.” It was later reported that no charges against the alleged attackers were ever pressed.
