Friend of Kendrick Lamar says ‘Meet The Grahams’ was factual
The battle between Kendrick Lamar and Drake revived the sense of competition in hip-hop and, overall, was a great thing for music. However, while the two MCs exchanged diss tracks, many called into question some of the claims made.
However, during a recent episode of the Effective Immediately podcast with Charlamagne Tha God, a close friend of Kendrick Lamar, DJ Hed asserted that everything the Compton native said in ‘Meet The Grahams’ was factual.
While speaking about ‘Meet The Grahams’, a response to Drake’s ‘Family Matters,’ Charlamagne Tha God revealed that although it was an impactful track, it seemed to be based on a pack of lies. Explaining his stance, the radio host unveiled, “I don’t know if everything on ‘Meet the Grahams’ is true. But a large part of it was just the self-reflection.”
DJ Hed directly refuted this assumption and insisted there were no lies, and, from his response, it appeared that he had insider information from Lamar concerning Drake. Addressing Charlamagne, he exclaimed, “I mean, he told me everything was facts.”
Charlamagne Tha God has not been as focused on this beef as figures such as DJ Akademiks. However, in the early days of the battle, the radio host claimed that Drake failed to drop a second diss because he was scared of Kendrick Lamar’s response.
He also mocked Drake, calling his material “microwave” music when compared to Lamar’s catalogue. Taking to Twitter/X, he wrote, “If you enjoy microwave meals, that’s on you, adding, “We prefer cooked food on this side.”
On ‘Meet The Grahams’, Lamar accused Drake of having a daughter that isn’t part of his life and being a deadbeat dad. He also claimed that the Scorpion rapper was abetting paedophilia. However, many fans raised eyebrows at both Lamar and Drake’s claims as neither rapper presented evidence to back them up.
