Frank Ocean releases limited run of 'Blonde' on vinyl for first time since 2016

Frank Ocean has returned with vinyl copies of his third album, Blonde, for the first time since it was released back in 2016. The album dropped in September of that year, and notably, Ocean sold the highly sought-after vinyl copies of it for a period of only 24 hours two months later,

Since Blonde was released, these original vinyl copies have been known to sell for thousands, demonstrating the extent of how in demand they are. Acutely aware of this unrelenting market, on Saturday (December 17th), Ocean took to his Instagram to direct fans to his website, where a new batch of vinyl of Blonde were made available, as well as other pieces of merch, including posters and t-shirts.

The new edition of the vinyl came with a gatefold sleeve and included a lyrics sheet and poster, with one of the t-shirts featuring one of the stars of HBO’s hit show Succession, Jeremy Strong. Unfortunately for fans wanting to get their hands on a new vinyl copy of Blonde though, they have now sold out.

Frank Ocean has been attracting fans’ attention recently, leading to suggestions that he might be about to release new music. This was compounded when he wiped his Instagram in September, which was taken as a sign that he’s about to enter a new artistic chapter. This is also partially inspired by the fact that he is set to headline Coachella in 2023, which will be his first performance since 2017.

Since he released Blonde, Ocean has released only a handful of new music, including the singles ‘DHL’ and ‘In My Room’. In July this year, he also shared previously unreleased cuts on his Blonded Radio show on Apple Music 1 to celebrate ten years of his debut album, Channel Orange.
