Fabolous speaks on his Dubai trips in new 'OSHO' freestyle

Last year, Brooklyn rapper Fabolous gifted fans with freestyles and exciting music videos as part of his “Freestyle Friday” series, and this has continued into the new year as the emcee (real name John Jackson) releases his latest track, ‘OSHO Freestyle’.

This latest freestyle sees Jackson recap his 2023, which was jam-packed with trips to Dubai, and this is reflected in the song’s visuals, which see the lyricist on a phone call from his private plane and show the extraordinary New Year’s celebrations and performances that took place while he was there.

‘OSHO Freestyle’ depicts an opulent and lavish lifestyle that focuses on his success and career moves since his departure from the limelight over a decade ago. Although the Bedford-Stuyvesant rhymer is far from a relevant figure, the quality drop since his heyday in the 2000s is nonexistent.

The beat is a cinematic, Arabian-style hip-hop track which samples last year’s ‘OSHO’ song, released by Sooraj Gautam. The instrumental also utilises hardened trap drums and sees Jackson use excellent flows reminiscent of his flawless delivery on freestyles such as ‘Tuluminati.’

After dropping the video on January 5th, the emcee took to Instagram, writing, “I’m in New Zealand & it’s already Saturday here, but I didn’t forget it’s Friday in the States. Even tho I’m traveling & touring still gotta let a freestyle go.”

This latest release follows comments by Bronx rapper French Montana claiming that his 2014 New Year’s track with Fabolous entitled ‘Ball Drop’ should have received a Grammy.

The track’s lyrics also hear Fabolous perform some introspection as he raps, “Selfishness will make someone comment under your pic / When he took care of you and your mama since you were six / Who selfish?/ Maybe we all are.”
