Eminem song 'Rap God' passes the 1 billion stream mark

The iconic Detroit rapper Eminem has broken yet another record. Only recently, his 2002 album The Eminem Show knocked off the top spot for the highest-selling hip-hop album of all time. However, that no longer matters, as another one of the emcee’s tracks has surpassed one billion streams on Spotify.

The artist (real name Marshall Mathers) recently celebrated his 51st birthday, and almost as a birthday gift, his 2013 single ‘Rap God’ passed the 1 billion streams threshold. The track featured on his epic project, The Marshall Mathers LP 2.

This is far from Eminem’s first track to surpass one billion streams on Spotify. Earlier this year, his 2004 single ‘Mockingbird’ crossed the threshold and, due to it becoming a viral sensation, ‘Godzilla’ also managed to pass the mark.

Other Eminem tracks that have surpassed one billion streams include ‘The Real Slim Shady,’ ‘Love the Way You Lie,’ ‘Lose Yourself,’ ‘Till I Collapse’ and ‘Without Me.’ Eminem has also achieved over 1 billion views on YouTube for several of his songs.

Surprisingly, over 500 songs have managed to surpass 1 billion streams on Spotify, and the streaming service gifts artists the Billions Club plaque once they achieve this feat. Mathers has several.

The artists that are ahead of Slim Shady concerning the 1 billion club are Justin Bieber, who has 14 singles, Bad Bunny, and Drake, who have 12 each. Ed Sheeran, the Weeknd and Rihanna, all with 11 each. Post Malone, XXXTentacion, Bruno Mars, and Ariana Grande who have ten each, and finally, Coldplay and Dua Lipa have nine each.

Last year, on the anniversary of his 2002 hit ‘Lose Yourself’, Mathers passed the 1 billion mark again. According to official Spotify figures, Eminem is the platform’s 18th most listened-to artist in the world. He has also won 15 Grammy Awards.
