Eminem enlists Snoop Dogg and Dr Dre for New York flash mob
Following the release of his most recent album, The Death Of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce), Eminem hired a legion of Slim Shady lookalikes in blonde wigs to form a flash mob in New York City’s Union Square. The Detroit lyricist also hired the actors to promote Dr Dre and Snoop Dogg’s new ‘Gin & Juice’ pre-mixed cocktails.
The flash mob was reminiscent of Em’s music video for his 2000 single ‘The Real Slim Shady’. The blonde wig-wearing, head-bobbing flock crouched while Eminem’s recent track ‘Houdini’ played in the background, catching the attention of passers-by.
Although the flash mob was assembled by Eminem, as a close friend of West Coast legends Snoop Dogg and Dr Dre, it is no surprise he also used the occasion to promote the pair’s latest endeavour of creating an alcoholic beverage.
Despite the fact that the Union Square tactic drew a lot of attention to The Death Of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce), one person who was not impressed was lightweight boxer Ryan Garcia, who decided to go on a X (formerly Twitter) rant about the Detroit emcee.
Taking to social media, the athlete wrote, “Eminem is a Satanist.” Writing a scathing assessment of him and his music, Garcia continued, “It’s not even debatable. I always thought he was overrated but hey, that’s just my opinion. Wait, Eminem is a homo? Eminem=Gay. For the record, I don’t care if Eminem is Gay. Nor do I care if he was straight. Just keep that devil shit he’s doing in his music videos away from kids.”
Although Eminem has remained fairly shtum about any additions to the album, there are already rumours about a potential deluxe version of The Death Of Slim Shady prompted by the existence of two deluxe additional songs on the digital release of the album featuring 2 Chainz.
Em’s 2020 project, Music To be Murdered By, had two discs, and fans are expressing that even if they don’t get a deluxe album, they are hopeful they will be a sequel to this latest LP.
