Dutch minister reveals no plans to ban Kanye West from the Netherlands

A Dutch minister has revealed that there are no plans to ban Kanye West from entering the country.

Ye is scheduled to perform in the Netherlands on June 6th and 8th at the GelreDome in Arnhem.

Despite his UK ban over antisemitism, Dutch Asylum and Migration Minister Bart van den Brink has confirmed that officials have no intention to ban the rapper.

“Once I have such information, I will proceed accordingly,” he told AFP. “Based on what is currently known to me, I have no indication that an entry ban can be applied in this case.”

Kanye was denied entry to the UK following an ETA application because his presence was deemed not to be conducive to the public good. He was set to headline Wireless Festival, which has now been cancelled.

Speaking after the news surfaced, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer said, “Kanye West should never have been invited to headline Wireless. This government stands firmly with the Jewish community, and we will not stop in our fight to confront and defeat the poison of antisemitism. We will always take the action necessary to protect the public and uphold our values.”

Ye is set to perform at the Stade Vélodrome in Marseille, France, on June 11th, but the city’s mayor, Mayor Benoît Payan, condemned the show.

“I refuse to let Marseille become a showcase for those who promote hatred and unapologetic Nazism,” he said. “Kanye West is not welcome at the Vélodrome, our temple of living together and of all Marseillais.”

His running mate, Fabienne Bendayan, added, “Someone who openly proclaims his admiration for Hitler and espouses Nazi ideas cannot set foot on the stage of a city whose very soul is woven from diversity, remembrance and brotherhood.”
