Dua Lipa speaks out against DaBaby's homophobic outburst at Rolling Loud

Dua Lipa has spoken out against her collaborator DaBaby after his homophobic outburst during his set at Rolling Loud.

DaBaby went on an abhorrent rant about HIV/AIDS and homosexuality. At one point during his performance, he said: “If you didn’t show up today with HIV, AIDS… put your cellphone light up. Ladies, if your pussy smell like water, put your cellphone light up. Fellas, if you ain’t sucking dick in the parking lot, put your cellphone light up.”

Now, Dua Lipa, who worked with DaBaby on a ‘Levitating’, has said on her Instagram Stories: “I really don’t recognise this as the person I worked with.”

She added: “I know my fans know where my heart lies and that I stand 100 per cent with the LGTBQ community. We need to come together to fight the stigma and ignorance around HIV/AIDS.”

In the wake of the controversy, DaBaby initially didn’t apologise for his comments or back down. He attempted to explain himself by saying on Instagram, “What I do at a live show is for the audience at the live show. It’ll never translate correctly to somebody looking at a little five, six-second clip from their goddamn crib on their phone.”

Later on, the rapper took to Twitter to half-heartedly apologise for his actions. He wrote: “Anybody who done ever been effected by AIDS/HIV y’all got the right to be upset, what I said was insensitive even though I have no intentions on offending anybody. So my apologies. But the LGBT community… I ain’t trippin on y’all, do you. y’all business is y’all business.”
