Drill rapper pleads guilty to fatal Sydney stabbing
Drill rapper Snoee Badman has pleaded guilty to a fatal 2024 stabbing.
The 31-year-old (real name Jacob Tammer-Spence) was charged with the murder of Sitaleki Filihiahekava after he was killed outside a restaurant in Sydney just under two years ago.
According to The North West Star, Badman accepted a guilty plea to the lesser charge of manslaughter ahead of the murder trial that was scheduled to begin on July 23rd.
Confirming his plea in court, Badman said, “Not guilty to murder, but guilty to manslaughter.” The rapper will return to court on August 6th to be sentenced.
Badman was arrested almost two days after Filihiahekava was killed on Marrickville Rd in Sydney’s inner west in September 2024.
The incident took place at around 7:30pm. That evening, Filihiahekava was having dinner with his family and met up with another man.
In a statement at the time of the arrest, Superintendent Ben Kennis said, “The victim was with a number of people at a restaurant in Marrickville prior to the incident. We believe at this point the two people met and the attack was somewhat targeted. It wasn’t random in nature.”
Snoee Badman has over 10,000 monthly Spotify listeners. His biggest song, ‘Threats’, has over 1.4 million streams, with ‘Never Free’ also boasting over 816,000 streams.
On ‘Threats’, he raps, “Done 14 months in the segro’/ Shit, lad, that there still no effect though/ That ganja smoke in my lungs, Project Pat, it pumps in my headphones/ Segro’ cell on a Melrose, big man ting, still doin’ up schemes.”
He also has a big YouTube presence, with the music video for ‘Threats’ racking up 1.3 million views and ‘Badman Returns’ clocking 849,000 views.
