Drake is taking a hiatus from music to concentrate on "craziest" health issues

Shortly after releasing his new album For All The DogsDrake has revealed that he is taking a break from music to concentrate on his health.

Drake arrived with his eighth studio album, For All The Dogs, earlier this week on October 5th. It is the follow-up to last year’s record-breaking Honestly, Nevermind, the record that features a noted collaboration with 21 Savage and production from Black Coffee and Gordo.

Whilst For All The Dogs has been met with widespread fanfare, when appearing on Friday’s edition of SiriusXM’s Sound 42’s Table For One, he revealed that he is stepping back from music to concentrate on his health. He said he’s been experiencing the “craziest problems” with his stomach and will take a hiatus for “maybe a year.”

“I probably won’t make music for a little bit. I’m gonna be honest,” he said. “I got some other things I need to do for some other people that I made promises to, but I probably won’t make music for a little bit. I’m gonna be real with you. I need to focus on my health first and foremost and I’ll talk about that soon enough.”

“Nothing crazy but just I want people to be healthy in life and I’ve been having the craziest problems for years with my stomach,” Drake continued. “So I need to focus on my health and get right, and I’m going to do that.”

“I need to get right,” the Canadian musician. “I have a lot of other things that, I would love to focus on. So I’m gonna lock the door in the studio for a little bit. I don’t even know what a little bit is. Maybe, maybe a year or something, or maybe a little longer.”

It wasn’t all about his health, and during the chat, Drake also candidly discussed the new record. “How can I describe this album to you?” he concluded. “I’ll keep it short and sweet. Please don’t ask me what I feel if you can’t handle the real. That’s it, that’s it. I apologise in advance. Maybe that was, that’s probably the alternate album title too.”
