Drake to pay funeral costs for French streamer Jean Pormanove
Drake has offered to cover the funeral costs for French streamer Jean Pormanove. The 46-year-old died suddenly in his sleep while on the 10th day of a streaming marathon.
Pormanove (real name Raphael Graven) passed away on August 18th in Contes, France. He was the most-viewed French streamer on the Kick platform and known for appearing in live shows that involved him being abused and humiliated.
Following his death, popular American streamer Adin Ross took to X (formerly Twitter) to reveal he and Drake would be paying for his funeral costs.
“This is horrible and disgusting,” he said. “Whoever was apart of this deserves to face severe consequences. I just spoke with Drake. Drake and I will be covering the funeral costs, this won’t bring his life back, it’s the least we can do. Prayers go out to Jean’s family.”
French government minister Clara Chappaz released a statement regarding Pormanove’s passing, claiming he was mistreated on the streaming platform and that his death was being investigated.
“The death of Jean Pormanove and the violence he endured are an absolute horror,” she wrote on X this week. “I extend my deepest condolences to his family and loved ones. Jean Pormanove was humiliated and mistreated for months live on the Kick platform. A judicial investigation is underway.
“I have referred the matter to Arcom and made a report on Pharos. I have also contacted the platform’s management to obtain explanations. The responsibility of online platforms regarding the dissemination of illicit content is not optional: it is the law. This type of failure can lead to the worst and has no place in France, Europe, or anywhere else.”
