Drake’s legal team say “millions of people” think he’s a paedophile because of Kendrick Lamar

Drake‘s legal team are hitting back at Universal Music Group after the label filed to dismiss his defamation lawsuit. Drizzy’s lawyers claim “millions of people” think he’s legitimately a paedophile following Kendrick Lamar’s allegations in ‘Not Like Us’.

A motion filed in federal court on March 20th claimed that UMG’s argument that most listeners wouldn’t take Kendrick’s “outrageous” insults as factual information was “doomed to fail.”

His attorneys wrote, “UMG completely ignores the complaint’s allegations that millions of people, all over the world, did understand the defamatory material as a factual assertion that the plaintiff is a paedophile. UMG also ignores [the lawsuit’s claim] that the statements in question (and surrounding context) implied that the allegations were based on undisclosed evidence and the audience understood as much.”

UMG attempted to stop discovery in the case after claiming the lawsuit was almost certain to be dismissed. However, according to Billboard, Drizzy’s lawyers said, “UMG has not stated how long it expects discovery to take, the costs associated with discovery, or any other indicator that might demonstrate why discovery will be overly burdensome.”

Drake’s attorneys claim the motion to dismiss the case is a “desperate ploy by UMG to avoid accountability” and expect it to be denied. They plan to file a formal opposition response in the weeks ahead.

Throughout ‘Not Like Us‘, released in May 2024, Kendrick made several comments about Drake being a paedophile with lyrics such as, “Say, Drake, I hear you like ’em young,” “Certified Lover Boy? Certified paedophiles” and “Tryna strike a chord and it’s probably A minor.”

The Compton rapper brought some of those lyrics to his Super Bowl halftime show in February while performing another diss track, ‘Euphoria’.
