Drake secures first Emmy nomination for ‘Euphoria’

Drake has secured his first-ever Emmy nomination for his contribution to Euphoria as the potential winners were announced in what looks like a heated battle between HBO and Netflix for the top prizes in 2022.

The star rapper has a producer credit on the teen series alongside Future and Zendaya who became the youngest female ever nominated in the Emmy’s producer category in a trailblazing moment for the young star.

For those who haven’t seen the show, it comes with the following synopsis: “A look at life for a group of high school students as they grapple with issues of drugs, sex, and violence.”

Renowned for its soundtrack and slick stylings, the show is often referred to as a modern American reimagining of the classic British E4 show Skins. In essence, it’s an alternative teen drama with a cool edge.

Season two premiered early in 2022 and has been rewarded with 15 Primetime Emmy nominations, including one for the big prize of Outstanding Drama Series and also further nods for Zendaya for lead acting and two original songs.

Time will tell whether Drake can secure his first Emmy win as the ceremony is set to go ahead on September 12th, 2022.
