Drake fires back at rappers who dissed him on new song ‘No Face’
There has been no stopping Drake of late, as he continues to release new music in fits and starts. While the dust continues to settle on his release of 100 GIGS, we now have even more new music from the Toronto rapper, which contains features from the likes of Lil Yachty and Playboi Carti.
Playboi Carti appears on the rapper’s newest track, ‘No Face’, which has some of the most fascinating bars available in the latest music that Drake has put out recently. While Carti’s verse is as individualistic as ever, Drake takes his time on the mic and appears to call out all of the rappers who have dissed him in 2024.
It takes a while, given how active the rap game was in his recent beef with Kendrick Lamar; there are many people for Drake to acknowledge in his verse. However, the volume doesn’t stop the 6 God from swiping at all of them within a couple lines.
On some of his diss tracks during the beef, such as ‘Push Ups’ and ‘Family Matters’, we heard Drake go into detail while dissing people. His bars were intricate and scathing, leaving people worldwide wincing at his lyrical brutality. In this new song, ‘No Face’, we get a different side to the rapper as he decides to be much more vague in his approach.
“I’m just so happy,” he raps, “That ni**as who envied and held that shit got to finally shout it.” He is also quite ominous in the following lines, as Drake says, “I’m over the moon, yeah, we’ll see you boys soon.”
Drake also addresses the music industry as a whole. There has been a lot of chatter lately that he isn’t capable of making hits anymore. He had a firm grip over the rap and R&B game for over a decade, but since then, his impact on music has been labelled obsolete. He addresses these criticisms, pointing out that many big musicians now, such as The Weeknd, Rick Ross, and A$AP Rocky, all got big because of him.
“This is the shit that my daddy had raised me on. Ni**as got lit off the features I skated on,” he said, “I gotta know, I gotta know, how you get lit off the ni**a you hatin’ on?”
With the persistent drops of new music and Drake rapping with serious intent, Drake is planning something big.
Whether or not there is more new music in the pipeline or whether Drake intends on releasing a new album remains to be seen, but all will no doubt be revealed in due course.
