Drake defends his crew and deletes Kendrick Lamar disses
Drake has come out to defend his Octobers Very Own (OVO) entourage following a series of allegations by Kendrick Lamar during the pair’s battle earlier this year, asserting they are not loyal to Drizzy.
The Toronto native has always appreciated his close friends and mentioned them in songs such as ‘No New Friends’ and ‘No Friends In the Industry.’ However, they were very much the target of Lamar while he sent shots at Drake.
On disses such as ‘6:16 In LA’ and ‘Meet the Grahams’ Lamar aimed at the OVO crew calling them fake and phony friends and Drake attempted to slap down these claims. However, he nas now addressed them in an Instagram post.
On June 5th, Drake (real name Aubrey Graham) posted a series of photos showing him smoking, drinking, and seemingly working on new music. However, he didn’t caption any of the pictures with details about the upcoming material but instead spoke about Lamar’s claims of disloyalty in the OVO camp.
Referencing Kendrick’s “Yes men” claim, Graham wrote, The only yes man around me is my Rolex dealer.” The emcee was wearing a Rolex in the photos, but that wasn’t the focus; he instead wanted to reassure Lamar that no member of his crew has ever sucked up to him.
Kendrick wanted to sow doubt in Drake’s mind about whether the OVO camp was more supportive of him and not the Canadian, and on ‘6:16 In LA’ he rapped, “Have you ever thought that OVO is workin’ for me?” He continued, “A hunned n**gas that you got on salary, twenty of ’em want you as a casualty… Two of them is practically tired of your lifestyle. Just don’t got the audacity to tell you.”
Although Drake is coming out now to debunk all of Kendrick Lamar’s claims, many fans have noticed that he has deleted all of the social media Kendrick disses he made during the height of the war, which may mean he is admitting defeat.
