Drake accepts artist of the decade award at 2021 Billboard Music Awards

Drake has been named as Artist of the Decade Award at the 2021 Billboard Music Awards.

The event took place at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. Drake’s OVO team and his parents, presented the artist with the award. Drizzy’s manager, Future the Prince, gave the rapper generous praise and labelled him as “the most kind, selfless, generous person we know.”

Viewers then sat through a compilation of Drake’s achievements over his wild last decade while the rapper was on stage with his son Adonis next to him.

“I’m really self-conscious about my music, and even if I do a good job, I always wonder how I could have done it better,” Drake said. “I rarely ever celebrate anything. And just for anyone watching this wondering how this happened, that’s really the answer – it’s being so unsure how you’re getting it done that you just kinda keep going in the hopes of figuring out the formula.”

He added: “I know I’ve spent an incalculable amount of hours trying to analyze all the things that I’ve did wrong, but tonight for once, I’m sure as hell we did something right.”

In the last decade, Drake has secured a remarkable nine number one’s on the Billboard 200, with his latest coming in 2019 with ‘Care Package’. His debut album, Thank Me Later, was released in 2010 and provided him with his first of six number one records. Meanwhile, he’s secured 45 singles in the top 10 and had 232 overall entries in the Hot 100.

Earlier this year, Drake became the first artist to enter the Hot 100 chart at number one, two and three simultaneously.
