Drake and Central Cee perform joint radio freestyle

Canadian rapper and singer Drake (real name Aubrey Graham) recently teamed up with UK drill artists Central Cee to deliver a back-to-back radio freestyle on New York’s hottest new radio show ‘On The Radar.’

While in New York for his It’s All A Blur tour alongside 21 Savage, the Scorpion emcee decided to join forces with Central Cee to take the city by storm with their verses. This is not the first time Drake has associated himself with the UK drill scene.

In 2020 the musician collaborated with the epic London producer AXL Beats for his song ‘War.’ He also performed live with Brixton’s Section Boyz in 2015.  New York’s Brooklyn drill scene, solidified by the late Pop Smoke, has exploded in popularity to such an extent that Power 105.1 created a drill-only radio show called ‘On The Radar.’

Hosted by radio personality Gabe P, the show has gained much traction recently.New York, including Ice Spice, Kenzo B, and Jenn Carter, have been huge beneficiaries of the platform, and, in promoting his upcoming album For All The Dogs, Drake visited the most listened-to urban radio show of the moment.

UK rapper Central Cee has also been spending a lot of time in the US recently and, while in New York, was asked by Graham to appear alongside him on the station. Central Cee has been received very well in the US, and his track ‘Doja’ has been endorsed by musicians such as Drake, Travis Scott, A$AP Rocky and others.

The West London emcee has also worked with Drake before and was the face of Drake’s Nike x Nocta collection. And it has been rumoured that Graham even paid Central Cee to perform ‘Doja’ at a private concert in St. Barts last December.

The freestyle was well-rehearsed, with the two bouncing back and forth with related lyrics. In the first verse, Drake rapped, “‘Cause we know some demon guys with jealous and evil eyes/ You know that’s how Jesus died, you know that’s how Julius Caesar died.” Then Central Cee finished it off with, “Why you swearing to God? You don’t even believe in Christ.”
