Drake accuses Kendrick Lamar of telling “fairytales” on new album ‘GNX’

Toronto rapper Drake hasn’t had the best year, and many have been rejoicing at what has been labelled as his downfall. The Views creator has dominated hip-hop for over a decade. Now, many are describing his position as unfair and untenable.

With 15 years of hip-hop dominance, Drake’s power is unfathomable, and his loss to Kendrick Lamar in their battle earlier this year has made fans reassess whether or not the Canadian emcee is genuinely deserving of all the accolades and awards he has received over the years.

Most recently, Drake has made the news for his lack of response to Kendrick Lamar’s latest album, GNX. The project includes several lyrics aimed directly at him. However, Drizzy seemed completely unbothered during a recent appearance on the popular xQc Livestream.

During the stream, Drizzy called many of the claims made by Lamar as “Fairytales” telling viewers,  “I’m here, as you can see, fully intact. Mind, body, and soul. In case you are wondering, right? You need facts to take me out. Fairytales won’t do it.” While on the stream, the former Young Money artist spoke about his close friend Lil Wayne and the 2025 Super Bowl Halftime Show and discussed GNX.

After addressing Kendrick’s new album, Drizzy would share his thoughts on today, stating, “Rap music is weird now anyway.”

This recent stream isn’t the first time Drizzy has spoken about Lamar’s alleged lack of authenticity. In 2013, the lyrics of Lamar’s guest verse on Big Sean’s single ‘Control’ caused a bit of a stir, but Drake dismissed them immediately, telling Rap Radar’s Elliott Wilson, “[Kendrick] is giving people moments. But are you listening to it now, at this point in time? Okay… It was real cool for a couple of weeks.” He continued, “If I asked you, for example, how does that verse start?” ‘Control’ also had references to Big Sean, Wale, Meek Mill, and Pusha T.

Only a month ago, Drizzy appeared on a track with artist Chino Pacas on a song sung entirely in Spanish. In the song, Drake rapped in Spanish, as he did in Bad Bunny’s 2018 single, ‘MIA’. However, the song, ‘Modo Capone,’ has received mixed responses, many of which are negative.

Although Drake insists he is unscathed by Kendrick Lamar, many are not convinced he is over his battle loss earlier this year. The two rappers exchanged a series of diss tracks during the summer. However, in the court of public opinion, Lamar beat Drake, and he still seems annoyed about the result.
