Dr Dre says he almost died after a brain aneurysm

Dr Dre has opened up about his recent health battle after he suffered a brain aneurysm which left him in ICU where doctors began to prepare for his death.

The life-threatening health scare occurred last year. On January 4th, the legendary hip hop star was admitted to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center’s ICU ward where doctors feared that he might not make it.

Eventually, Dr Dre stayed in ICU for two weeks before being released. Speaking about the incident with Workout the Doubt podcast, he explained how serious things got and the effect that the scare has had on his life.

“They weren’t allowing anybody to come up – meaning visitors or family or anything like that – because of COVID,” Dre explained. “But they allowed my family to come in [and] I found out later, they called them up so they could say their last goodbyes, because they thought I was out of here. I didn’t know it was that serious… Nobody told me, I had no idea. That was crazy.”

Nevertheless, Dre was unaware of how serious things got himself, explaining: “I never felt like I was in trouble. I felt like, ‘OK, I’m just going through [a] procedure, and I’m ready to go home. I’m hungry.’ I didn’t eat for two weeks… That was a really crazy experience.”

Thankfully, Dre made a full recovery and there have been no signs of any subsequent complications.
