Donald Trump rules out Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs pardon
President Donald Trump has revealed he won’t be pardoning Sean ‘Diddy‘ Combs following his request last year.
Combs is currently serving a four-year sentence after being found guilty of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution.
According to The New York Times on January 8th, the president stated that he doesn’t intend to help the rapper.
Speaking to reporters, Trump said that Combs “asked me for a pardon … through a letter.” When pressed for more details, he replied, “Oh, would you like to see that letter?” However, he failed to show the letter.
A spokesperson for the White House later confirmed Trump’s comments about Combs.
In October, Trump revealed that Combs had asked him for a pardon while answering questions in the Oval Office. “A lot of people have asked me for pardons,” he said. “I call him Puff Daddy; he has asked me for a pardon.”
That same month, it was reported that Trump was considering a pardon, but the White House shot down those claims.
“There is zero truth to the TMZ report, which we would’ve gladly explained had they reached out before running their fake news,” they said. “The president, not anonymous sources, is the final decider on pardons and commutations.”
Combs was sentenced to 50 months behind bars in October after being acquitted of the more serious charges of sex trafficking and racketeering. He’s currently located at FCI Dix in New Jersey and set to be released in 2028 as a result of time served.
