President Donald Trump praises Nicki Minaj as the “Queen of rap”

Donald Trump has given high praise to Nicki Minaj, who has been publicly supporting the president in recent months.

Minaj spoke on stage at the Trump Accounts Summit in Washington DC earlier this week. The pair hung out at the event and took a moment to record a TikTok together.

In a video posted to Trump’s account, Nicki says, “Hello guys, I’m with my favourite president, the best president of all time.”

While a ‘Beez in the Trap’ edit plays in the background, the camera turns to Trump, who says, “And I’m with the Queen of rap.” In the caption, Trump acknowledged Minaj’s “Barbz” fan base.

Minaj later took to the comments to respond to the president’s lofty claim, writing, “I really love MY President.”

Trump has had a conflicting relationship with hip-hop over the years. When Jay-Z and Beyoncé performed at a Hillary Clinton rally in 2016, he said, “The language is so bad and as they were singing – singing, right? Was it talking or singing? Right? But the language was so bad.”

On the other hand, he’s recognised Kanye West and Lil Pump’s support during his presidency. He’s also pardoned the likes of Lil Wayne, Kodak Black, and NBA YoungBoy.

During Minaj’s appearance at the summit on January 28th, she was full of praise for Trump and responded to the criticism around her political views.

“I am probably the president’s number one fan, and that’s not going to change,” she said. “The hate – or what people have to say – it does not affect me at all. It actually motivates me to support him more. And it’s going to motivate all of us to support him more.”

She added, “We’re not going to let them get away with bullying him. He has a lot of force behind him, and God is protecting him. Amen.” Minaj also called him “handsome” and “dashing” during a speech in December.
