
Doja Cat drops out of Austin City Limits and is replaced by huge indie band
Doja Cat has officially dropped out of the headline slot at Austin City Limits because of pressing promotional duties for her new album.
On August 29th, the star took to social media to share the unfortunate news. She admitted, “When I made the commitment, I didn’t know exactly when Vie would be released.” Vie is the name of her upcoming fifth studio album.
She continued, “I’ve been working on finalizing the album, making videos, taking the time to put together an album campaign that I am really excited about, and it’s become clear to me that I cannot give you guys the show you deserve within this time frame,” she wrote.
The singer and rap artist was set to due the Texas festival in October. Other names on the bill included The Strokes, Sabrina Carpenter, Hozier, and Doechii. The festival is spread across two weekends: October 3rd to 5th, and October 10th to 12th.
Doja Cat added, “Thank you to the ACL team for their support and I hope to see you all again soon when the time is right. I’m forever grateful for the opportunity.”
The ‘Say So’ singer has already shared a new single from the upcoming project, nostalgic pop offering ‘Jealous Type’. This marks the first release of her rollout leading up to the record, which will drop on September 26th.
The artist has other shows booked for later in the year. On November 18th, she will begin performing in New Zealand and Australia. After this stretch, she has a show scheduled for December 7th in the Philippines, before closing out the year’s commitments as they stand in Taiwan on December 21st.
Austin City Limits has since announced that her Sunday headline slot will now be filled by The Killers. The American rock band formed in 2001 are known for their lasting global hit, ‘Mr Brightside’.
