Doja Cat reveals she’s been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder

Doja Cat has been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder.

The ‘Paint the Town Red‘ rapper took to social media on March 13th to open up about her struggles with the disorder, also known as BPD.

In a TikTok video, she said, “I’ve learned from a very young age to pretend that I like stuff, to pretend that I’m happy, to pretend that I don’t like stuff that I do, to appear like everything is OK. I’ll get it done. And it caught up with me, and I think it always does for people. I’m now struggling with BPD.”

Doja admitted that she’s struggling with the disorder “probably forever,” telling her fans that it’s been an “agonising” process.

“I’ve been in therapy for years now, and I am so relieved and so proud of myself,” she said. “I’ve made it so far, and I still make mistakes, but it is an eight-year process of curing, treatment and healing.”

According to the Mayo Clinic, borderline personality disorder is described as “a mental health condition that affects the way people feel about themselves and others, making it hard to function in everyday life.”

The description continues, “It includes a pattern of unstable, intense relationships, as well as impulsiveness and an unhealthy way of seeing themselves.”

Doja has discussed her mental health in the past, revealing she dropped out of school at 16 due to her struggles with ADHD.

“It felt like I was stuck in one spot and everybody else was progressing constantly,” she said. “I definitely didn’t like to leave my room. I don’t know if I was agoraphobic, but I definitely thought that I was at the time.”
