DMX posthumous book ‘The Gospel According to DMX’ announced

A posthumous DMX book titled The Gospel According to DMX has been announced this week.

The iconic Yonkers rapper, best known for hits like ‘X Gon’ Give It to Ya’, ‘Party Up’, and ‘Ruff Ryders Anthem’, died in April 2021 after suffering a heart attack.

Five years after his death, a release date has been announced for DMX’s new book, The Gospel According to DMX.

Set to arrive on November 17th, 2026, the book will provide an intimate look into his spiritual life and creative mind.

The book is described as “a collection of Earl Simmons’ spiritual writings, prayers, sermons, and select lyrics. Presented as a beautifully designed keepsake edition, the book features never-before-seen handwritten pages that offer an intimate window into the private devotions of a man whose faith was as fierce as his artistry.”

The collection has been curated by the rapper’s estate and includes a foreword by the legendary Rakim.

A disclaimer reads, “Despite its title, The Gospel According to DMX is not a religious or doctrinal text. Some portions of this book contain profanity, explicit language, and mature themes. Earl Simmons’ archival materials are presented in their original form and should be considered in the context of the complete body of work.”

In a statement, Desiree Lindstrom and Sasha Simmons, co-fiduciaries of his estate, said, “Spirituality was not an accessory in the life of Earl Simmons; it was the foundation. God was ever-present, whether in the studio, on the road, at home, in church, or while incarcerated.”

They continued, “He prayed before meals, before and after shows, before sleep; he prayed with family, friends, and strangers. For him, faith was not an act. It was a lifestyle and a means of survival.”
