DMX makes posthumous appearance on new Lil Wayne song

Lil Wayne has sampled the late DMX for his latest song ‘Kan’t Nobody’. The song is going to be featured on Tha Carter 6. Produced by Swizz Beats, X’s performance is taken from his debut album It’s Dark and Hell Is Hot, which Wayne then turned into a line in the song, rapping, “Swizzy gave me a head-banger, a neck snapper/All I need is a beat and a DMX sample”.

When talking about his work with Swizz Beats, Wayne mentioned being blown away by the chemistry he has, saying (via Stereogum), ” That’s my brother first of all. That’s the way we work, we got a billion bangers and just pick one to put out whenever we feel like it”.

Wayne had mentioned looking up to DMX when he was on the rise, saying (via ABC), “Being from New Orleans, it’s so far away from New York and Cali and [stuff] like that. We didn’t know if it was real when we seen it on TV, the New York guys, the LA people. So when we saw DMX, we all fell in love”.

This new track comes after Wayne’s tribute to DMX following his death in 2021, saying (via ABC), “he talks like how he rap, and you see this man is what he is. And you see this man got a zillion dogs with him, then a zillion dogs with him, it’s impossible not to be obsessed, infatuated…impressed, whatever”. After paying tribute to DMX at his show, Wayne would go on to perform his track ‘Uproar’.

When talking to Apple Music, Wayne thinks this project is going to be some of the best music he’s ever done, saying (via Stereogum), “I can’t believe we’re at Carter 6. My fans know I give my all. Go listen to my last feature and know it’s gonna be a thousand times better than that”.

Tha Carter 6 is set to release later this year, but no set release date has been made.
