DJ Cassidy to unite 25 hip-hop icons for 'Pass The Mic Live' event

DJ Cassidy is set to bring back Pass The Mic Live, bringing together 25 hip-hop icons for one night only. The event is set to feature some of the genre’s most influential figures and is scheduled for July 21st at New York’s Radio City Music Hall. Attendees can expect performances by Big Daddy Kane, Doug E. Fresh, Rakim, and Slick Rick.

The event is being held in celebration of hip hop’s 50th anniversary and aims to bring fans of the genre back to its roots. The show, which will be presented by Martell Cognac in partnership with the Black Promoters Collective, will also feature rap pioneers such as Roxanne Shante, The Sugarhill Gang, Monie Love, Kurtis Blow, Kid ‘N Play, and other surprise guests.

Discussing the upcoming show with Billboard, DJ Cassidy said: “As a 10-year-old DJ, I grew up idolizing every single one of these legendary hip-hop heavyweights. Their records were my first pieces of vinyl. Their posters were on my wall. Their tapes were in my Walkman. Together, they laid the foundation for what was to transform the world musically, culturally and beyond.”

He concluded: “I am truly grateful to be celebrating them and their profound impact on the culture, just days from the 50th birthday of hip hop. Uniting 25 native New York icons of hip-hop’s golden age on one stage for one night in the birthplace of hip-hop, also my hometown, will be the greatest honour of my life.”
