Diddy’s streaming numbers are shockingly going up
The ongoing allegations facing Sean ‘Diddy‘ Combs are enough to make even the most ardent fan of the rapper and producer question themselves. However, despite being accused of some of the most heinous crimes, the rapper’s streaming numbers are going up.
The musician, producer, and businessman was recently placed on suicide watch at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center after being arrested on federal charges, with Diddy denied bail twice and currently awaiting trial. But that doesn’t seem to have dampened his appeal on streaming platforms.
According to data specialists Luminate, the rapper’s songs have increased streaming numbers by 18%, with just over 9.7million monthly listeners on Spotify. The reasons for this bump might not be as obvious as we might think.
One of the more likely reasons for such an increase is that internet sleuths are taking to his old songs to try and find previously hidden meanings to his tracks or lyrics. As old TV interviews and clips resurface, one cane be sure that his songs are also being pawed through.
Of course, another reason could be that his fans are attempting to bolster his coffers as he looks set to face a lengthy trial process that will undoubtedly drain his funds.
Diddy has denied all of the charges, but more could be forthcoming after a songwriter who collaborated with Cassie Ventura – Combs’ former partner of more than a decade who filed a lawsuit against him alleging physical and psychological abuse – claims she was drugged when working on the singer’s second album.
No date has been set as of yet for Diddy’s trial, but he remains behind bars and prosecutors have confirmed they’ve spoken to over 50 witnesses regarding the charges.
