Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs accuser loses legal team for second time

A woman sued Sean ‘Diddy‘ Combs in July 2024, alleging sexual assault and trafficking in her lawsuit against the Bad Boy rapper. Now, she’s set to lose her legal team for a second time.

Adria English’s attorneys requested to withdraw as her legal counsel in documents filed in New York federal court on March 10th. Lawyers alleged “a breakdown of the attorney-client relationship” and “irreconcilable differences” between them.

According to USA Today, her attorneys asked the judge to grant their motion and pause the case for 60 days in order for English to receive new representation. “[English’s] conduct has made it unreasonably difficult for Attorneys to represent her,” the filing read. “Therefore, it is impossible for Attorneys to serve as Plaintiff’s counsel on this case.”

The documents claim English “is not receptive to Attorneys’ legal advice and instructions” and has “not been receptive to communication” with lawyers and “not answering calls and requests to communicate.”

Her attorneys said the case has barely progressed since they started working together in December 2024, claiming their client “was warned several times of her self-destructive conduct and conduct that was impacting Attorneys’ ability to represent her.”

The filing continues, “Attorneys attempted to work with Plaintiff to mitigate the damage to her case and prevent her from undermining Attorneys’ advice and efforts on her case. Against legal advice Plaintiff has continued that conduct. This continued conduct has made it unreasonably difficult for Attorneys to continue to represent her.”

An attorney claimed “an irrevocable breach has developed. Plaintiff wishes to pursue an approach we believe to be imprudent and with which we disagree.” Combs’ defence team objected to the 60-day pause and stated they would submit a motion to dismiss her complaint “in its entirety and with prejudice.”

The Bad Boy rapper was arrested in September 2024 on charges of racketeering, sex trafficking by force and transportation for purposes of prostitution. He’s currently detained at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center awaiting his trial, which is set to begin on May 5th, 2025.
