Did 50 Cent diss Dr Dre with this one song?

Eminem, Dr Dre and 50 Cent have been a money-making trio since the turn of the millennium. Dr Dre discovered Eminem, who quickly became a superstar, and the ‘Stan’ emcee swiftly signed 50 Cent, obliterating almost every East Coast rapper when he released ‘In Da Club’.

With Dr Dre and Jimmy Iovine behind the wheel, 50 Cent and Eminem as performers began to dominate the charts, overshadowing hip-hop and, for a long time, was the only label challenging Roc-A-Fella concerning the potency of its roster.

Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ has been unanimously considered the most ground-breaking album of the early-2000s and, in the eyes of Kanye West, was worth a Grammy. The album was executively produced by Dr Dre and during his era of dominance, Jackson was a protégé of the Compton producer and the two have been friends since the early 2000s.

Since his arrival, 50 Cent has had feuds with everybody in hip-hop and has dissed a long list of artists. From Fat Joe and Ja Rule to Rick Ross, The Game, and Jadakiss, the emcee relishes the opportunity to start a conflict to this day.

50 Cent even had issues with his own crew, G-Unit, following the collective’s dissipation in the mid-2000s, battling members such as Young Buck, The Game and Lloyd Banks. As well as these figures, Jackson has taunted Floyd Mayweather over the years.

However, despite the many bridges he has burned, Jackson has yet to enter a beef with Dr Dre or Eminem. However, in 2009, for his album Before I Self Destruct, 50 Cent recorded a track which raised eyebrows. Many fans began to speculate that the Queens emcee had dissed his mentor on ‘So Disrespectful’.

The diss track hears Jackson address The Game and Young Buck rapping lines such as, “That n*gga Buck like Game tell momma he don smoked the T-V / I didn’t know he fucked with more dope than B-G / Plus a n*gga sipped more syrup than Pimp C / Man keeping these motherfuckers rich ain’t easy.”

However, one lyric mentions Dr Dre. During the song Jackson states, “I gave Game hits, he told me to suck dick / Start screamin’ Westside and Dre ain’t say shit!'” This made fans believe the ‘Candy Shop’ artist was mad at Dr Dre.

However, in an interview with MTV News, Jackson clarified the intention behind the verse, explaining, “It was an absolute true statement, and Dre approved because it was true. He heard the record and was like, ‘Whoa! Out the park with that.’ He likes it. He doesn’t care. Creatively, you’re right, ’cause he didn’t say anything when that took place – or not anything that the public heard.”

During the interview, the ‘Many Men’ creator stated that it wasn’t a dig at Dr Dre but a mere fact and confirmed that the Compton beatmaker himself wasn’t offended by the lyric as he knew it was true.
