Death Row arrives on TikTok

In a new social media post, Snoop Dogg has confirmed Death Row’s library of songs is arriving on TikTok.

Last April, Snoop removed all of the label’s music from streaming platforms after purchasing the company. “First thing I did was snatch all the music off those platforms traditionally known to people because those platforms don’t pay,” the rapper said on Drink Champs. “And those platforms get millions of millions of streams, and nobody gets paid other than the record labels. So what I wanted to do is snatch my music off, create a platform similar to Amazon, Netflix, Hulu. It’ll be a Death Row app, and the music, in the meantime, will live in the metaverse.”

Now, Snoop has decided to reinstate Death Row’s catalogue on streaming platforms. However, the business-minded musician has reached an agreement with TikTok to add the label’s works onto their platform a week before they arrive on other streamers.

In a statement, Snoop said: “I’m excited for y’all, because Death Row Records is back up for you to enjoy. You can go get that playlist right now and you can listen to any song you want off the catalogue strictly on TikTok… Tell ’em Snoop Dogg sent you.”

After taking over Death Row a year ago, Snoop discussed the “untapped” potential of the label which he planned to explore under his ownership. “I am thrilled and appreciative of the opportunity to acquire the iconic and culturally significant Death Row Records brand, which has immense untapped future value,” he said in a press release after acquiring Death Row.

He added: “It feels good to have ownership of the label I was part of at the beginning of my career and as one of the founding members. This is an extremely meaningful moment for me. I would like to personally thank the teams at Blackstone, MNRK and especially David Kestnbaum, who worked collaboratively with me over several months to make this exciting homecoming a reality. I’m looking forward to building the next chapter of Death Row Records.”

Throughout his career, Snoop has continuously acted like a maverick, and now his mindset is aiding the next chapter of Death Row.
