Dame Dash claims $800,000 lawsuit loss was actually a victory
Dame Dash has opened up about his $800,000 lawsuit loss. According to the Roc-A-Fella Records co-founder, the money he had to give up was just a minor inconvenience.
Dash was sued for defamation and copyright violations over the 2019 film Dear Frank, with filmmaker Josh Webber and Muddy Water Pictures winning a $4 million default judgment.
Last month, Dash was ordered to surrender his businesses and copyrights to pay the $823,284 damages.
During a conversation with The Art of Dialogue, Dash claimed the companies he was forced to sell are unimportant to him.
“I don’t have too much in my name,” he said. “So the things that are in my name are companies that I don’t know even exist, don’t make money, and are from years ago. For him to only win $800,000 is a W in anybody that’s a real businessman’s world. At the end of the day, people celebrating my bills is to me an honour.”
Dash’s following comments referenced homosexuality in a derogatory manner. “To me, any dude, regardless, who talks about another man’s pockets, is gay,” he said. “Because there’s no reason for a man to be worried about another man’s pockets unless he owes him money. A woman, I can understand because they want to know how they’re going to be taken care of.”
He added, “But I’ve always said it; a man worried about another man’s bills and pockets, it’s like worrying about what’s behind that man’s zipper. So I’m not answering really any man asking me about my bread because I don’t consider it the most masculine thing.”
Just last year, Dash criticised his fellow Roc-A-Fella co-founder Jay-Z, describing him as a “terrible” businessman.
