Dallas rapper in critical condition after nightclub shooting
Rapper Zeethewizard was one of four people shot at a nightclub in Dallas, Texas, in the early hours of January 1st.
The New Year’s Day shooting took place at around 3:45am at the Pinkhouse Dallas Club near Empire Central and North Stemmons Freeway.
Police officers discovered four people injured by gunfire, with one of those in critical condition.
According to WFAA, Zeethewizard’s family confirmed that he was the critical victim, with sources saying he was shot multiple times.
The rapper (real name Zee Cannon) is surrounded by family at a North Texas hospital. One of his affiliates, Himothy Chung, took to his Instagram Stories to ask for privacy.
“Out of respect for Zeethewizard and his family, we ask that you please respect our privacy during this difficult time,” he wrote. “In order to give him the care he needs, we are limiting hospital visitors. Please do not come to the hospital.”
He added, “Hospital security and police are enforcing these restrictions. We are deeply grateful for the prayers and support. We will update everyone when we see fit.”
Police have yet to identify any of the victims in the shooting, including Zeethewizard. A video that surfaced online showed the moment BigXthaPlug found out his friend had been shot.
Zeethewizard released his last project, Words of WIZdom, in April. His biggest song, ‘Boss N***a’, dropped in August and has 634,000 YouTube views.
Speaking on the rapper, Dallas lawyer and music executive Torrance Burnett said, “Incredibly talented. Had a way with words and was able to impact people. I think that when we take art, with people who can make that art happen, we gotta take it at face value and just enjoy it.”
