DaBaby successfully dismisses bowling alley assault lawsuit
DaBaby was involved in a bowling alley brawl several years ago, but has now been dismissed from a lawsuit that claimed he attacked his ex-girlfriend DaniLeigh’s brother. The incident took place at Corbin Bowl in Los Angeles in February 2022.
Brandon Bills (real name Brandon Curiel) claimed the North Carolina rapper “aggressively approached” him and threatened to assault him “in a loud bellicose manner.” He alleges DaBaby then caused “severe injury” from physical assault.
However, during a ruling on May 21st, Judge Huey P. Cotton stated that Bills failed to pursue his case promptly. Bills didn’t attempt to serve DaBaby with the help of a sheriff and took over two years to seek an order to serve by publication. Once he received permission, he failed to act on it.
“The only thing that made timely service difficult was plaintiff’s own lack of urgency,” the judge wrote. “Plaintiff’s own briefing establishes lack of diligence.” He added that “the weapon brandishing incident occurred when Corbin Bowl and not plaintiff attempted to serve defendant in North Carolina, nearly two years after the complaint was filed.”
The judge ruled that Bills’ negligence claims against Corbin could proceed. Corbin has filed a cross-complaint against DaBaby, believing liability should rest with him. The result is a jury trial scheduled for October 2026.
Police told Rolling Stone that investigators were looking into Bills’ claims that DaBaby started the altercation. No arrests were made despite an assault with a deadly weapon report being taken at the scene.
DaBaby has a daughter with DaniLeigh, who considered him “lame as hell” for going after her brother. “Running up on my brother on some slippery ass floors with 5/6 of ya boys while he’s by himself and not even touching him!” she wrote in an Instagram post. “Lame and so sad! I pray this stops now! Bc this is my family! And I got a daughter to raise. Sad.”
