Childish Gambino releases exciting new music video for ‘Lithonia’
Earlier this year, Childish Gambino released his album Bando Stone & The New World, which he announced would be his last album under the stage name. That said, to accompany the project, he has released exciting new visuals for his single, ‘Lithonia’.
The Jack Begert-directed post-apocalyptic music video sees the emcee perform in a lowly-lit room with Alex Wolff playing the drums and his musical partner-in-crime Ludwig Göransson playing the electric guitar.
Göransson has collaborated with Gambino on a number of occasions and the Swedish musician contributed to his 2011 album Camp, the 2013 LP Because the Internet and the epic 2016 body of work Awaken, My Love! He even worked on the anthem ‘This Is America’.
In this latest music video, the actor Suzanna Son can be seen lying on the floor watching Gambino’s rehearsal, but in a post-apocalyptic turn, viewers also see the actor anxiously running through the forest, fearing for her life.
Bando Stone & The New World hit streaming services on July 19th and prior to its release, the ‘Red Bone’ artist let fans know the album was inspired by “feature film idea he had years ago, about a musician recording his masterpiece on a remote island when a global calamity strikes.”
Earlier this year, the artist (real name Donald Glover) unveiled that he would release two albums in 2024 before dropping his Childish Gambino moniker. The two albums, Atavista and Bando Stone & The New World, are still set to be the soundtracks for an unnamed movie that Glover will release this summer.
Now that Bando Stone & The New World has been released, Glover will go on a world tour entitled the ‘New World’ tour, which will be his first tour since 2019. Although he’s yet to reveal the exact dates of the forthcoming tour, Childish Gambino has revealed some of the cities he will be visiting, including Amsterdam, London, Brisbane, and Munich.
