Chicago rapper MAF Teeski arrested on battery charges
Buzzing Chicago rapper MAF Teeski (real name Terrance Banks) was arrested this week on battery charges.
He was charged with domestic battery by bodily waste committed in the presence of a child less than 16 years old and interference with reporting a crime.
According to TMZ, Hamilton County police arrested the 27-year-old at around 6:30pm on November 24th.
He appeared in court the next day after spending the night behind bars, before posting a $10,000 cash or surety bond.
Teeski released his latest album, Slick SZN 2, in June. His biggest song on Spotify, ‘Catch a B’, has over 17 million streams, with the music video also boasting 24 million streams on YouTube.
Some of his other big tracks include ‘3AM in the Raq’, ‘Tips on How to Catch a Murder‘, and ‘Drench Gang’. The rapper has over 750,000 monthly listeners on Spotify, in addition to 333,000 Instagram followers.
He once revealed that he regretted naming his song ‘Tips on How to Catch a Murder’ due to how much unwanted attention it gave him.
In the second verse of the song, he raps, “Uh, yeah, tips on how to catch a hat/ First you grab your gloves and mask and make sure you wearin’ black on black/ If you smart, n*gga, you’ll leave your phone so that bitch won’t get tracked.”
He told DGB Media, “That song kinda got me in a little hot water right now, but it ain’t shit that I did or nothing or no criminal shit, it’s just eyes on me – wrong type of eyes. And I’m not knowing my impact on the world.”
Teeski lost his finger after getting it shot off while he was playing NBA 2K on the PlayStation 4. At the time, he was on house arrest.
