Central Cee reveals why he axed Drake collaboration from new album

UK rap star Central Cee has been seen alongside Drake on several occasions in recent years. Whether it be their On The Radar freestyle or their 2023 collaboration on the track ‘Rolex’, they make for a strong hip-hop team.

However, after releasing his brand-new album Can’t Rush Greatness on January 24th, fans couldn’t help but notice that the West London rapper had not included any of his former collaborations with Drake on the project.

Although the 17-track body of work sees huge features from the likes of Skepta, Lil Durk, Dave, Lil Baby, and 21 Savage, his former Canadian collaborator is noticeably absent, and many have questioned why. Furthermore, many have assumed that Drake’s loss to Kendrick Lamar may have played a part in why the Shepherd’s Bush native may have shelved any track he had with the Scorpion creator.

The record boasts hits like ‘CRG,’ ‘BAND4BAND,’ and ‘GBP.’ So far, it has received positive feedback, and Central Cee has announced other big projects as well, including a music video for his Lil Durk collaboration, which is already racking up numbers.

Furthermore, the UK rhymer announced he will embark on a worldwide arena tour. The ‘Doja’ lyricist will begin in Europe and the UK on April 1st before making his way to the United States and Canada on May 2nd. The last leg of his tour will be in Australia and New Zealand, with the final stop being on July 2nd in Perth.

Still, the big question about Drake has overshadowed Can’t Rush Greatness. Central Cee and Drake’s On The Radar freestyle was a viral sensation, and a track with Drake would have inevitably been the biggest song on this album if there were one, but Central Cee has unveiled why he chose not to put Drake on the album in an interview with FunX radio insisting that it would have been too “predictable.”

He explained that he wanted to “save” it for now, stating, “I don’t like it when people can guess these kinds of things right away. A lot of people didn’t see it coming that Drake is not on the album.” Still, many are associating Drake’s absence with his current status as a pariah in hip-hop especially considering he has now brought a lawsuit against Universal Music group for defamation of character.
