
Cause of death revealed for Fatman Scoop
The cause of death has been revealed for the late hip-hop veteran and one of the greatest hype men in history, Fatman Scoop. The rapper, whose real name was Issac Freeman, passed away on August 30th after collapsing on stage in Connecticut. He was only 56 years old when he passed.
After he fell to the floor, local Mayor Lauren Garrett confirmed in a social media post that Fatman Scoop was being transported to the nearest hospital. It was later revealed by the rapper’s tour manager, DJ Pure Cold, via Instagram that Freeman had sadly passed away.
“You took me all over the world and had me performing alongside you on some of the biggest and greatest stages on this planet,” he wrote, “The things you taught me have truly made me the man I am today.”
His booking agency also took to social media to share the news of his passing. “Scoop was a beloved figure in the music world, “ they wrote, “Whose work was loved by countless fans across the globe. His iconic voice, infectious energy, and great personality made an indelible mark on the industry, and his legacy will live on through his timeless music.”
After having time to examine Fatman Scoop, the Connecticut medical examiner confirmed that he died as a result of heart disease. It has also been revealed that the rapper also had hypertension and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, which is a heart condition that’s caused by plaque buildup in the arterial walls. The results of the medical examiner’s report were published in the Associated Press.
News of Fatman Scoop’s death truly rocked the hip-hop world. A number of rappers came out to praise Scoop, highlighting how much of an impact he had on the genre because of his lyricism and iconic hype vocals. Missy Elliott, who worked with Fatman Scoop several times, shared a post on social media highlighting his influence.
“Fatman Scoop’s VOICE & energy have contributed to SO MANY songs that made people feel HAPPY & want to DANCE for over [two] decades every time you hear them,” she wrote, “His IMPACT is HUGE & will be NEVER be forgotten.”
Nicki Minaj also took to social media to share a tribute to the rapper. “To this iconic, charismatic, endearing Hip Hop legend. May your soul rest in perfect peace,” she wrote, “You brought so much happiness to this world. May the Lord reward you.”
