Cardi B joins forces with Rosalía on new remix of 'Despechá'

Cardi B has teamed up with Spanish pop star Rosalía for a new remix of her hit single, ‘Despechá’.

The new track was announced by Rosalía on her Twitter, and it then dropped overnight. The Catalunyan singer included the original version of ‘Despechá’ featured on her album, Motomami, which recently won the Latin Grammy for ‘Album of the Year’, ‘Best Alternative Music Album’, ‘Best Engineered Album’ and ‘Best Recording Package’.

Previously commenting upon the track, Rosalía said: “There are many ways to be Despechá, in this theme it is from the freeness or the craziness, moving without reservations or regrets. This is the place from where I make music, from where I did it when I first started and where I will continue to until God says so.”

She added: “I’m grateful for having been able to travel in recent years and have learned from music from other places including the DR, where artists like Fefita La Grande, Juan Luis Guerra and Omega have inspired me and without them this song would not exist.”

Meanwhile, Cardi B was recently threatened with a lawsuit after recreating a piece of artwork in which Marge Simpson wears a Thierry Mugler dress revealing her backside. Cardi B did not ask for permission before she recreated the original 2013 artwork by Alexsandro Palombo when dressed up for Halloween this year.

Palombo wrote on Instagram, “We wrote to Mrs Cardi B and collaborators how come that they never contacted us for authorisation to use the artwork and didn’t mention or credit the artist, violating Meta policy about intellectual property rights. Still no answer.”
