Cardi B drops 'Hot Shit' featuring Kanye West and Lil Durk

Cardi B has returned with her bassy new track ‘Hot Shit’. Adding to the electrifying vibe of the new song are verses from Kanye West and Lil Durk, which help to elevate the track considerably, taking it from the familiar to captivating.

In a recent interview with Zane Lowe, Cardi B explained that the song is actually “a little bit older than ‘WAP'”, and was first recorded in 2019. After informing the host that the song has its origins in the pre-Covid world, she then discussed West’s role in the track coming to fruition.

Cardi said: “Kanye gave me this verse a couple of months ago when he was just all over the media, because of all of the things that were going on, and I like how his verse — it’s personal, but it’s not that personal. It’s enjoyable in the clubs that you could be like, ‘Yeah, yeah. You talk your big cash.’

She continued: “I really love it. And I’m so happy that he gave me this verse. And I had a lot of conversations with Kanye West. I learned so much about him, and he’s such an amazing, sweet person. I’ve been feeling like; I wish a lot of people have conversations with him so they could just see the real him.”

Elsewhere in the interview, she revealed that she’s already got another single ready for release, “and right after that, I really just want to put that album together.”

‘Hot Shit’ is Cardi B’s first single as a solo artist since November 2021’s ‘Bet It’ which featured on the soundtrack of the Netflix film Bruised. After the song dropped she collaborated with SZA and Summer Walker for the extended version of ‘No Love’. Then, this spring, she teamed up with fellow New Yorkers, Kay Flock and Dougie B for the much-celebrated ‘Shake It’.
