It has recently been announced that ‘WAP’ emcee Cardi B and ‘Rock The Bells’ legend LL Cool J will both appear on ABC’s ‘New Year’s Rockin’ Eve’ special hosted by Ryan Seacrest.
The annual celebration is recorded and broadcast from New York City’s Times Square, where thousands gather for the city’s New Year’s Eve ball drop that sees the nation usher in a new year.
The annual ABC television show does not host exclusively hip-hop artists, and this year will see Cardi B and LL Cool J perform alongside artists such as NewJeans, Megan Thee Stallion, Jelly Roll, Sabrina Carpenter and others. This year is the 52nd edition of ‘New Year’s Rockin Eve’.
Not all artists will be performing live from Times Square. Cardi B’s performance will be broadcast from The Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami Beach. Post Malone will be performing from Las Vegas and NewJeans will be joining the festivities from South Korea.
The programme will also feature performances from Jelly Roll, Tyla, Aqua, Doechii, Ellie Goulding, Green Day, Janelle Monáe, Loud Luxury and Two Friends with Bebe Rexha, Ludacris, Nile Rodgers and Chic, Paul Russell, Reneé Rapp with Coco Jones, and Thirty Seconds To Mars.
Earlier this year, hip-hop celebrated its 50th anniversary, and LL Cool J performed at a series of events, including the 2023 VMAs and a special programme entitled ‘A Grammy Salute to 50 Years of Hip-Hop’.
The New Year’s Eve programme will air on ABC on Sunday, December 31st at 8PM Eastern Standard Time and will be co-hosted for the 19th time by Ryan Seacrest alongside special guest host, ‘Hot Right Now’ vocalist Rita Ora.
