Capone-N-Noreaga announce new album with Dr Dre collaboration
Capone-N-Noreaga have announced their first album in 11 years while confirming a Dr Dre collaboration.
Capone and N.O.R.E. last teamed up in 2015 for their Lessons project, but they’re set to return with new music soon.
N.O.R.E. took to Instagram on July 12th to post a photo of them in the studio with Dre and revealed that their new album was finished.
“We finally did it !!!” he wrote. “Record done yalla yanda we not missing this summer !!!! WATCH!!!!”
N.O.R.E. once credited Dr Dre for kickstarting his solo career by bringing him in as a feature on The Firm’s 1997 album, which was released on his Aftermath label.
“The Firm made me a whole solo artist,” he said at a live recording of Drink Champs. “But I’m just letting you know that you and Jimmy [Iovine], I was the only person that was on that album that wasn’t [The] Firm. I wasn’t officially Firm. I was just a Queens shooter, and they put me down and we, but you cosign that.”
He continued, “And Jimmy, I never told you I got your phone number too, Jimmy, and I never told you that when y’all let my record rock on The Firm album, that set up my whole solo career. That set up Drink Champs. I think I owe you money and shit.”
N.O.R.E. went on to say, “I want to tell you thank you because that shit changed my life. That one record. That one record, I had dropped the album called The War Report, and I dropped it and everyone said it was a classic. I didn’t feel it. I was still selling crack, it was hard.”
As for N.O.R.E., he released his last solo album, 5E, in 2018. In recent years, he’s expanded his music career to co-hosting the award-winning Drink Champs podcast.
