Brooklyn drill rapper shot and killed in Coney Island
Brooklyn rapper Briscoe Bands has been shot and killed in his hometown.
The 24-year-old (real name Truron Roach-Martin) lost his life in Coney Island on July 1st.
According to the New York Daily News, Bands was shot dead at 9:20am near W 28th St and Surf Ave, close to the boardwalk.
He suffered gunshot wounds to the face and chest before being taken to NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn. Bands died in the hospital.
Following the incident, his mother, 53-year-old Christine Roach, warned the suspect that they won’t get away with the murder.
“This world is crazy,” she said. “He didn’t bother nobody. Mark my words, this murderer will be caught, and he will be prosecuted. That’s what all this was about. Envy and jealousy. His career was taking off. He was a young black man coming up in the music business. My son’s talent will live on.”
She added, “We don’t know what happened. We’re very much affected by this loss. My family doesn’t go through things like this. Everybody is hurting. My son was loved. Find the person who killed my son.”
Bands recently signed a record deal with Rich Blocc Records. He’s best known for songs such as ‘Drench Gang Shit Pt 1’, ‘Nightmare’, ‘Every F Shot’, and ‘Purge’.
He lived in Bedford-Stuyvesant but frequently travelled to Coney Island to visit his girlfriend. Fans took to his YouTube video to react to the passing.
