Big Daddy Kane claims hip-hop fans ruined Drake and Kendrick Lamar’s beef

Big Daddy Kane has shared his opinion on Drake and Kendrick Lamar’s beef, claiming hip-hop fans ruined the moment for him. The Brooklyn rapper, renowned for his battle rapper skills, believes the current generation of rap fans take things too seriously.

During a recent interview, BDK stated that he wishes people would enjoy the lyricism instead of trying to determine if everything said is true.

“I was trying to keep up with the Kendrick and Drake thing but I kinda lost interest,” he told The Art of Dialogue. “It just wasn’t exciting to me, not because of them two, but because of the fanbase[s]. I’m good. Because it’s not a competitive thing about who spit the better bars, it’s a thing about fact-checking to see if this person told the truth.”

He continued, “If the line is dope and he dissed you, it’s dope, man. It’s that simple. He bodied you with what he said. ‘Nah, that’s not true, he actually…’ The line was dope, why are we trying to critique and decipher what was said? It’s just a dope rhyme. Enjoy the music for what it is – it’s a battle, they going at each other.”

The Juice Crew member admitted that he often lied in his rap battles, but it was more about the bars and providing a comedic element.

“In my days of battling people, I’ve said stuff about people that ain’t true,” he said. “But it was funny as hell – you laughed and enjoyed it. If that’s the way the younger generation looks at battles, that’s they thing. I hope they enjoying it. It just wasn’t for me, man.”

Big Daddy Kane added, “Like I said, it’s not about Kendrick or Drake, it’s the fanbase[s], the listeners and their comments and their views, they make it unenjoyable for me. And that’s not Drake or Kendrick.”

Drake and Kendrick exchanged diss tracks last year, which began with the latter’s verse on Future and Metro Boomin’s ‘Like That’. Earlier this month, K. Dot kept the feud alive with shots throughout his halftime show at the Super Bowl, performing ‘Euphoria’ and ‘Not Like Us’ on the biggest stage.
