Beyoncé reduced to tears by Tina Knowles speech at awards ceremony

Beyoncé‘s mother, Tina Knowles, played a huge role in keeping her daughter on the right track musically and emotionally at the start of her career with Destiny’s Child. This bond was evident on October 8th at the Glamour Awards after she gave an impassioned speech about raising a young Bey.

Tina was honoured with a Glamour Award at the ceremony celebrating ‘Women of the Year’. However, rather than make herself the centre of attention, Tina made her acceptance speech about her daughters, Beyoncé and Solange.

Speaking to a massive crowd in the Times Square EDITION Hotel in New York City, Knowles began her speech by stating, “I’ve been so blessed in my life to do many things. I’ve had many careers, but I’ve always said that the best job that I’ve ever had is being a mother.”

As her mum continued to express her emotions and love of motherhood, Beyoncé began to get visibly teary-eyed. As she proceeded to unveil that she considers Kelly Rowland and Michele Williams as family, Knowles stated, “I’ve had the privilege of raising and helping to raise four daughters, two that were born to me and two that were a gift to me from God. You know, I was somewhat of a rebellious teen and a young adult, and I didn’t always follow the rules, but the day that I became a mother, I decided that this was one thing that I wouldn’t screw up.”

Knowles even opened up about her own struggles with depression and revealed to everyone at the awards ceremony that Beyoncé, Solange, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams helped her during the “lowest points” of her life.

Tina also expressed her unbridled pride and unveiled she admires everything that Beyoncé and Solange have done with their music career, but most importantly, she added, “What I’m most proud of is the human beings that they are. How they have managed to stay humble, grounded, generous, gracious, and kind, and how they manage to put it all into their art.”

Knowles has worked with her daughter on numerous occasions throughout her career. Earlier this year, the pair launched the hair-care brand, Cécred, with her mother taking on the role of Vice Hhairwoman. Tina has also appeared in two episodes of the brand’s series, In The Cécred Salon.
