Behind Brad Pitt’s favourite Frank Ocean song

Frank Ocean and his music have always been of high quality, and he is critically acclaimed as an artist. From his mixtape Nostalgia Ultra to his 2012 album Channel Orange, the singer is one-of-a-kind. However, he is an enigmatic figure and releases music erratically.

Although Ocean is loved and still highly sought after, the musician hasn’t been seen for years. When he re-emerges, it is always briefly, and before fans know it, he has disappeared again. Strangely, nobody has forgotten about him. However, his music is considered a reminder of a bygone era when Tumblr and SoundCloud could propel unknown figures to fame.

Although many celebrities have announced their love for Ocean’s material, one strange megastar once announced that he is a fan of the Channel Orange rapper and singer. That star was actor Brad Pitt.

Pitt and Ocean have actually been friends since 2017, and that year, the singer decided to bring him out on stage at the FYF Festival at Exposition Park in Los Angeles. The pair bonded and Pitt unveiled that he had listened to a lot of Ocean’s music as a way to get through his divorce from Angelina Jolie at the time.

During a 2017 interview, Pitt disclosed, “I find this young man so special. Talk about getting to the raw truth. He’s painfully honest. He’s very, very special. I can’t find a bad one.”

Although Ocean has been missing in action for a while, in a recent encounter with a fan, Pitt was asked to name his favourite Frank Ocean song of all time, to which he responded, “What’s the one with the ‘s’? The guy’s name?” The fan suggested it may be ‘Seigfried’, and the actor then confirmed that it was his favourite song ever. ‘Seigfried’ appeared on the lauded 2016 album Blonde.

Despite the public love of his material, Ocean has seemingly quit making music. In 2022, the enigmatic singer played various snippets of unreleased music on his Apple Music 1 show Blonded Radio. However, no official songs were released. He has dropped a series of one-off singles, including ‘DHL’, ‘In My Room’, ‘Cayendo’ and ‘Dear April’ but fans have ruled out the notion of a full-length project.

In 2016, Ocean released two projects, one visual and another comprised of 17 tracks. The visual series Endless was released a day before Blonde, for which the New Orleans vocalist received much praise.

Earlier this year, in July, Ocean seemingly teased in late July that he was back in the studio, as he uploaded a photo of him tracking on a bass guitar on social media. However, fans are still none the wiser as to whether the photo was old or an enigmatic hint that new music is upcoming.
