Baton Rouge rapper files alibi notice after first-degree murder charge

Baton Rouge rapper Realbleeda has filed an alibi notice following his first-degree murder charge last year.

In June 2025, the 24-year-old (real name David Catherine) was arrested after being accused of killing Teressa Calligan in September 2024 in his hometown.

According to WAFB, Bleeda filed the notice in the 19th Judicial District Court on June 22nd, claiming he was at his home in West Baton Rouge Parish when the shooting took place, not where the incident occurred.

His lawyer has identified a woman as a witness who is willing to testify on his behalf. Additionally, they claim that they provided her information to Baton Rouge Police detectives, but she was never interviewed.

Calligan was injured in a drive-by shooting at the intersection of Airline Highway and Greenwell Street at around 9:30pm on September 15th, 2024.

The woman was reportedly waiting at a traffic light when another car pulled up alongside her. From there, someone allegedly shot at Calligan’s vehicle, hitting her several times and killing her before her car crashed into an officer’s vehicle.

The Baton Rouge Police Department believe Bleeda was the shooter, arresting him after using surveillance video, witness statements, and tips.

Claiming it wasn’t a random act of violence, Baton Rouge Police said at the time, “In this instance, she just wasn’t the target they were looking for; she was an innocent bystander going on about her business.”

Realbleeda has over 119,000 monthly Spotify listeners and is best known for songs such as ‘All Black’ and ‘Step 2K25’ with Chicago rapper BabyChiefdoit, which have six million and five million views on YouTube, respectively. His last album, Biggest Stain, was released in June.
