BabyChiefDoit admits to using ChatGPT to write his lyrics
BabyChiefDoit has revealed he uses ChatGPT to write his lyrics. The 17-year-old rapper is one of the most popular new artists out of Chicago, and was recently named in the 2025 XXL Freshman Class.
During an interview last week, BabyChiefDoit confessed to using the AI chatbot to assist with the bars in his music.
“I just downloaded that two days ago,” he told Power 105.1. “I didn’t know that shit worked so well. I been using that shit to write my lyrics – real shit. Hell yeah, that shit works. What I did was, I wrote down four bars, and I said, ‘Write me a song.’ Bro, I started it off. It wrote some shit.
“Now I ain’t use it, you know, exactly how it was written, but it was some, you know, some shit that I could pull out of there. That shit was cool.”
In the comments, journalist Rob Markman wrote, “I think there will be a new generation of artist and fans who will have AI normalised and not think anything of this. Personally, I can’t really co-sign doing it.”
Another person added, “This no different than y’all saying Drake got ghost writers tbh. Lyrics still need a voice and a face, no matter who wrote them. And most of your favourite songs were not written by the person who sung them. Just keeping it a bean.”
Following the backlash, BabyChiefDoit took to his Instagram Stories to respond. “Being on the internet becomes unfun when y’all take me serious,” he wrote. “If ChatGPT was the solution 2 all my problems, Y in the absolute f#ck would I have y’all the sauce.”
Just last week, BabyChiefDoit was featured on Chance The Rapper’s new album Star Line. He appeared on the song ‘Drapetomania’, spitting a second verse on the track.
He released his latest album, Zoo Life, in April. His biggest song on Spotify, ‘The Viper’, boasts 54 million streams, with ‘Rollin’ and ‘Went West’ racking up 22 million and 21 million streams, respectively.
