Rapper Baby Smoove arrested on drug and weapon charges in Miami

Detroit rapper Baby Smoove was arrested in Miami last week on multiple drug and weapon charges.

The 29-year-old (real name Jaelin Parker) was charged with a total of seven felony counts, including four for possession of a controlled substance with an intent to sell or deliver while armed.

According to TMZ, he was also charged with possession of marijuana with an intent to sell or deliver while armed, intending to manufacture or sell prescription drugs, and carrying a concealed firearm.

Miami police pulled over Smoove on December 10th for having heavily tinted windows in his yellow Lamborghini.

Officers claimed they “observed a cloud of smoke and a strong odour of marijuana,” while also spotting a black handgun under the driver’s seat.

Smoove and two others were arrested due to them not being allowed to possess firearms. The gun, a black Taurus PT809, allegedly had 16 live 9mm rounds in the magazine and one live round in the chamber.

They also found a pill bottle with suspected oxycodone, xanax, and tizanidine hydrochloride, along with a backpack containing $30,000 cash, 81.9 grams of suspected marijuana, 12 canisters of suspected THC wax, and a bottle of promethazine.

Smoove claimed he didn’t know who owned the gun but stated that the bag belonged to him. He was released from jail on December 12th on a $1,000 surety bond.

The popular Motor City rapper has over 575,000 Instagram followers and 1.8 million monthly Spotify listeners. He released his latest album, Help, in November.

His biggest song, ‘Losing My Mind’, has over 105 million Spotify streams, with other tracks like ‘Overtime’ and ‘Lethal Weapon’ boasting 55 million and 41 million streams, respectively.
