B.o.B sued over alleged sexual assault in San Diego hotel
A lawsuit has been filed against ‘Airplanes’ rapper B.o.B (real name Bobby Ray), alleging sexual assault at a San Diego hotel earlier this year.
A woman, referred to as Jane Doe, sued the 36-year-old artist over an alleged incident after attending his concert at the California Beer Festival at Del Mar Fairgrounds on April 26th, 2025.
According to CBS News 8, the woman travelled from Texas to see one of her favourite artists, who she credits for helping her during her cancer treatment in 2016.
During the show, B.o.B allegedly brought her on stage for a dance segment, with the rapper’s manager then inviting her to a private party at a hotel suite.
“[Jane] viewed the unexpected invitation as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to hang out with one of the biggest stars in hip-hop, whose music played a major role in keeping her emotionally healthy to continue her arduous struggle against cancer,” court documents read.
The woman claims that she and her cousin turned up at the Westin Hotel at around 3am. When her family member left the room, the woman claims he performed inappropriate physical contact.
“[Jane] was shocked as she didn’t think this could happen and didn’t know what to do,” the documents continued. “This was coming from the man whose music helped her through her most desperate time; the hip-hop artist whom she travelled from Texas to see; and now she is being sexually assaulted by the very same man.”
B.o.B’s wife allegedly entered the room, but he ordered her to leave. “Mr Simmons got up and walked to the doorway to ensure his wife had left the room and would no longer bother him or interrupt what he was planning to do,” the documents read. “He quickly returned to his kneeling position before a seated [Jane], where he resumed rubbing her inner thighs and waist with the intent to sexually assault her.”
The woman claims she managed to escape the situation when the rapper’s manager knocked on the door and interrupted him.
B.o.B released his last album, Space Time, in August 2024. He was recently on the road for The Adventures of Bobby Ray 15th Anniversary Tour in support of his debut album.
