B.G. forced to hand lyrics in to judge amid investigation

New Orleans rapper B.G. – real name Christopher Dorsey – has been forced to turn over lyrics to a judge for official examination. The order comes before his June court hearing, which will address his alleged supervised release violations.

Dorsey is currently embroiled in a legal dispute over allegations that he breached his supervised release conditions. The allegations arrive after it was revealed that he collaborated with Boosie BadAzz for a live show in Las Vegas and recorded an album with Gucci Mane

According to official court documents, the prosecution requested Dorsey’s lyrics in evidence. Judge Susie Morgan of the Eastern District of Louisiana agreed before requesting that Dorsey submit the lyrics from all the songs he has recorded since his release in January.

According to a report from XXL, Dorsey acquiesced to the court order, handing over the lyrics to any new solo work as well as that with Gucci Mane. At present, it is unclear exactly what the court seeks in the details of the rapper’s lyrics, but the supporting evidence could help the prosecution in its aims.

Dorsey is scheduled for a show cause hearing on June 18th. At this hearing, the judge will determine whether he violated the terms of his supervised release and decide if his new lyrics will require approval from his probation officer before recording and publication.

In July 2012, Dorsey received a 14-year federal prison sentence after admitting guilt to two charges of felonious gun possession and obstruction of justice. Ultimately, he served an 11-year term at the Federal Correctional Institution in Herlong, California.

He was finally released in September 2023 before entering a halfway house for a term. Although he claims full rehabilitation and that he had permission to perform with Boosie BadAzz, his work with Mane, also a convicted felon, adds weight to the case.
